Ice forecasts for the eastern waters of Newfoundland and Labrador
issued by Environment Canada at 10:00 a.m. EDT Friday 19 April 2024
for today tonight and Saturday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.

First ice edge estimated from Newfoundland near 4934N 5429W to 5238N
5222W to 5515N 5156W to 5641N 5703W to 6007N 5947W to 6200N 5854W
then northeastward. Sea ice west of the ice edge.

Second ice edge estimated from 6200N 5528W to 6121N 5510W to 6048N
5347W to 6051N 5135W then eastward. Sea ice east of the ice edge.

Strait of Belle Isle - eastern half.
Ice pressure warning in effect.
2 tenths first-year ice except 9 plus tenths first-year ice along
parts of the Newfoundland coast. Consolidated first-year ice along
parts of the coasts. Strong ice pressure along parts of the
Newfoundland coast easing this afternoon.

Strait of Belle Isle - western half.
Bergy water except 1 tenth first-year ice in the extreme eastern
section. Consolidated first-year ice along parts of the coasts.

Belle Isle Bank.
Bergy water except 2 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old
ice in the western section.

South Labrador Coast.
5 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old ice except 9 plus
tenths first-year ice including a trace of old ice along parts of
the coasts. Consolidated first-year ice along parts of the coast.

Lake Melville.
Consolidated first-year ice.

Mid Labrador Coast.
3 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old ice except 9 plus
tenths first-year ice including a trace of old ice in the western
section. Consolidated first-year ice along the coast.

South Labrador Sea.
Bergy water except 2 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old
ice in the extreme western section.

North Labrador Coast.
8 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old ice. Consolidated
first-year ice along parts of the coast.

Northwest Labrador Sea.
Bergy water except 5 tenths first-year ice including a trace of old
ice in the northwestern section.

East Labrador Sea.
Bergy water except 1 tenth old ice in the extreme northeastern
section.

Southwestern Grand Banks
